Sinn Féín Councillor Paul Donnelly has commended the work of all frontline services throughout Dublin West over the past week during the atrocious weather and heavy snow storms.

Commenting, Councillor Donnelly said “I have been in constant contact with frontline services since the beginning of the snow storms and I absolutely commend them for all their hard work, determination and commitment to getting the job done”.

“I also would like to commend the communities right across Dublin West who in their hundreds, got their shovels, spades, brushes and other garden tools to move the snow off the roads and paths”.

“I was with neighbours in my own estate in Lohunda for nearly three hours where we eventually managed to create a track for cars to get out and also cleared all the footpaths”.

“I am also aware that many older estates couldn’t do that heavy work and I would like to thank the council workers who did their best to get to as many of those areas as possible whilst also trying to open up all the lanes on our major roads”.

“As with every major incident, there is always a learning from it. I will be asking for a report on the issue of resources and how we can maximise the willingness of citizens to get out and help clean up their own areas thereby allowing the council workers to prioritise the major routes”.
