DONNELLY WELCOMES SURVEY ON WINDOWS AND DOORS REPLACEMENT SCHEME

Dublin West Sinn Féin Councillor Paul Donnelly has welcomed the surveying of local authority homes for the window and door replacement scheme.

Cllr Donnelly said, “I welcome the surveying of local authority homes for the window and door replacement scheme. There are many homes in in Dublin 15 that desperately require window and door replacement.”

“I am concerned about the fact that funding for only 200 homes has been allocated to local authority housing across the county. This is really only going to get to the most serious cases that require replacement. There are many homes that are freezing during the winter due to poor conditions and the fact that many are single glazed and don’t hold the heat in.”

“I would like to acknowledge the efforts of the Fingal Estate Management staff who are working very hard to try to access further government funding. I will continue to monitor this situation and I’m hopeful that this will be resolved as soon as possible.”

ITEM 14
WINDOWS AND DOORS REPLACEMENT SCHEME
Question: Councillor P. Donnelly
“To ask the Chief Executive to provide a detailed list of the 200 homes in Dublin 15 earmarked for window and door replacement?”
Reply:
The window and door replacement programme is carried out on a phased basis generally by estate to maximise the financial resources available. This necessitates surveying the condition of windows and doors in the older estates prior to finalising the next phase of the programme. This work is underway and it is expected that a programme of works will be finalised shortly, which will include 3 bedroom dwellings in the Dublin 15 area. The County Councillors and relevant tenants will be provided with the details of the next phase of the programme in due course.
